2.2 Overview
In order to increase the protection strength of Changbai Mountain Nature Reserve, streamline all aspects of relationships, accelerate the development of eco-tourism industries in Jilin Province, and achieve the unified planning, unified management, unified protection and unified development strategic objectives of Changbai Mountain, on June 29, 2005, the People's Government of Jilin Province establishes the Management Committee of Jilin Changbai Mountain Protection Development Zone. In July 2006, the provincial government issued “opinion on further clarifying the management system and right permissions of Changbai Mountain Protection Development Zone Management Committee” (Ji Zheng Fa [2006] No. 30), which clearly points out that Changbai Mountain Management Committee, as the provincial government’s agency and department level establishment, has administrative power equivalent to city (prefecture) government.
