1.1.1 Project Introduction

The optical grating transducer refers to the sensor taking the grating moiré fringe principle to measure displacements. It is widely applied in all the fields such as aerospace, chemical medicine, material industry, water conservation and power, ships and coal mines, etc.

The project t produces 0.6 million high-accuracy and high-resolution absolute grating rotary encoders; 60000 high-integrated single code channel absolute grating rulers; 0.3 million rotary transformers; 20000 driving devices; exports 1 million gratings.

1.1.2 Market Analysis

(1) Analysis of the development trend

Theoretically, the patent technology follows the periodical change of 4 periods, that is, technological introduction period, technological development period, technological mature period and technological dropout period, etc. From the statistics of the quantity of patents applied for and quantity of applicants in each year from 1995-2014 and drawing of the technological lifecycle graph, the grating sensing technology is generally in the technical development period.

  (2) Application market analysis

The grating sensor has some advantages such as small size, good insulation and anti-EMI, etc. It is applied in the electric power and electronic, civil engineering and petrochemical fields, etc. The statistical result shows that the grating sensing technology is now mainly applied in 17 fields. It is most widely applied in the electric power and electronic industry, accounting for 24.3% of the total, the second most widely applied field is civil engineering, accounting for 12.2% of the total.

Application in the civil and water conservation engineering

The structural monitoring in the civil engineering is the most vigorous field where the optical fiber and grating sensors are applied. The measuring of mechanical parameters are really important for the maintenance and monitoring of health conditions of bridges, mines, tunnels, dams and constructions, etc. Through the measuring of the strain distribution of the above structures, the local loads and health conditions of the structures can be forecast. The optical fiber and grating sensor can cling to the surface of be embedded in the structure to simultaneously carry out health test, impact test, shape control and vibration damping test, etc. of the structure so as to monitor the defects of the structure. In addition, the multiple optical fiber and grating sensors can be in series to a sensing network to carry out the accurate distributive test of the structure and it can use the computer to carry out the long-distance control of the sensing signal.

② Application in the bridge safety monitoring

At present, the field where the optical fiber grating sensors are mostly applied is the safety monitoring. Cables of cable stayed bridges, main cables and booms of suspension bridges and tie cables of tie cable arch bridges, etc. are the critical force bearing members of the bridge systems, the prestress anchoring systems of other civil engineering structures such as anchor ropes and anchor rods taken for structural reinforcement are also critical force bearing members. The magnitude and distributive change of the force of the above force bearing members most directly reflect the health conditions of the structures, so the monitoring of the force bearing conditions of the members and the safety analysis assessment based on it are of great importance.   

③ Application in the concrete beam strain monitoring

In 1989, some experts including Mendez of Brown University, the US first presented the embedding of the optical fiber sensor in the concrete building and structure and described some basic assumptions of the actual application in such a research field. Later, the universities and research institutions of some countries such as the US, Great Britain, Canada and Japan, etc. have input a great force in the research on the application of the optical fiber sensors in the intelligent concrete structures.

In the district, Longjia International Airport is the national trunkline airport, some expressways such as Jingha Expressway and Hunwu Expressway, etc. meet here, some trunkline railways such as Jingha Railway and Hada Railway penetrate the whole district, Changchun-Manchuria-Europe International Freight Train has been opened and the sea, land and air 3D transport network has been preliminarily established, so it is convenient to have communication of personnel and goods with other regions of Northeast China, Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei and the surrounding countries of Northeast Asia. The new district, depending on the construction of Longjia International Airport and comprehensive railway freight yard, is building the international airport and international inland port, the “three major channels” to the west, north and south and incorporate to the major pattern of economic development in the world.

The National High-end Grating Sensor Industrial Base takes two major national scientific and technological projects undertaken by Yuheng Optics Co., Ltd., that is, “Development of the High-accuracy and High-resolution Absolute Grating Rotary Encoder” and “Development and Industrialization of the High-integrated Single Code Channel Absolute Grating Ruler” as the main foundation and cooperates with Changchun Institute of Optics, Fine Mechanics and Physics of Chinese Academy of Sicences, Changguang Digital Display Co., Ltd., Changchun University of Science and Technology, Shenyang Xinsong Co., Ltd. and Central China Numerical Control Co., Ltd., etc. to establish the consortium integrating production, learning and research with the obvious personnel and innovative advantages.
